Why Dogwood Radiology

Specialty imaging, in collaboration with your veterinarian.

  1. Board-certified radiology (DACVR)

A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology has completed years of specialty training and rigorous certification beyond veterinary school — the credential referring veterinarians look for in advanced imaging.

  2. Referral-only, by design

Outpatient ultrasound is scheduled exclusively through your primary veterinarian. We collaborate closely with the doctor who knows your pet best and keep them at the center of ongoing care.

  3. Accurate acquisition & interpretation

Our radiologist performs the study and writes the report. Subtle or complex abnormalities are far more likely to be recognized when the same expert who scans the patient also interprets the images.

  4. Clear, actionable reports

Detailed diagnostic reports are submitted directly to your referring veterinarian to guide treatment planning. Urgent findings are communicated by phone the same day.

  • Focused evaluation of a specific area of concern
  • Pre-surgical or pre-procedural imaging
  • Masses or fluid assessment

Yes. Outpatient ultrasound appointments are referral-only and must be scheduled by your primary veterinarian.

A board-certified veterinary radiologist (DACVR) personally performs the ultrasound and submits the report to your pet’s regular veterinarian.

The report is sent to your referring veterinarian, who will discuss results and next steps with you. If you would like a copy emailed to you directly, contact client@dogwood.vet.

If urgent findings are identified, our radiologist will contact your referring veterinarian promptly to discuss the case and recommended next steps.

Yes. If a fine needle aspirate is recommended (at the radiologist’s discretion), sedation is required for patient comfort and safety.

Yes — only for emergency cases. Emergency ultrasound evaluations are managed by the emergency doctor on duty and are subject to triage, case priority, and radiologist availability. An additional emergency service fee applies when ultrasound is performed through the emergency service.

Reports are sent directly to your referring veterinarian after the study. For urgent or unexpected findings, our radiologist reaches out personally so the next steps in your pet’s care can begin without delay.
