Advanced veterinary diagnostics and therapies in Atlanta, GA.

Every tool the most complex cases need — all under one roof in Marietta.

Specialty veterinary medicine depends on having the right tools immediately at hand. Dogwood’s hospital is built with the diagnostic imaging, laboratory, critical care monitoring, respiratory support, and advanced therapeutics that complex cases require — and they’re all available, 24/7, in one building.

All In One Hospital
  • CT, ultrasound & digital radiography
  • 24/7 in-house laboratory & coagulation
  • ICU, telemetry & surgical suites

Why capabilities matter

What separates a specialty hospital from a general practice.

It’s the depth of capability available the moment a patient needs it — not three days from now, not at another building.

Most veterinary clinics handle most cases very well. But when a case becomes complex — trauma, sepsis, multi-organ disease, advanced surgery, critical anesthesia — outcomes depend on what tools are in the building when the patient arrives. CT imaging within minutes of admission. A blood transfusion before circulation collapses. Mechanical ventilation when oxygen alone isn’t enough. Dialysis for acute kidney injury that would otherwise be fatal. Dogwood is built so that every one of these capabilities is in the same hospital, 24/7, and integrated with the specialty teams who use them.

Integrated

Every specialty service uses the same toolkit

Diagnostic imaging & laboratory

Seeing inside the patient — and the bloodwork to back it up.

Most specialty cases begin with a diagnostic question. Answering it reliably requires cross-sectional imaging, real-time ultrasound, and a laboratory that turns around results in minutes, not days.

CT Scan

Cross-sectional imaging on-site for trauma, neurology, surgical planning, and advanced workups — same-day reads.

Ultrasound

Bedside abdominal and thoracic ultrasound, plus ultrasound-guided sampling of internal organs for ER, ICU, internal medicine, and oncology.

24/7 In-House Laboratory

Complete blood count, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, blood typing, and bedside diagnostics — results in minutes, around the clock.

Thromboelastography

Real-time clotting analysis — few Atlanta hospitals offer it. Guides transfusion decisions and detects subtle coagulopathies.

Critical care, monitoring & surgery support

Around-the-clock care for the sickest patients.

Critical care isn’t a place. It’s a combination of trained people, continuous monitoring, and a space designed to keep unstable patients stable. Dogwood’s hospital is built around that idea.

24/7 ICU

Continuous monitoring, telemetry, and 1:1 nursing under board-certified critical care oversight — the hospital’s heart for the sickest patients.

Telemetry Monitoring

Continuous ECG, blood pressure, and SpO₂ tracking for cardiac, post-anesthesia, and critical patients — the smallest change caught immediately.

Surgical Suites

Modern operating rooms with cutting-edge anesthesia monitoring equipment, supported by a board-certified anesthesiologist — the only one in the Atlanta area.

Isolation Ward

Dedicated isolation space and protocols for contagious cases (parvo, panleukopenia, leptospirosis) — protecting both the affected patient and the rest of the hospital.

Respiratory support

Breathing support, from gentle to advanced.

Some patients arrive struggling to breathe. Others develop respiratory distress in the hospital. Having the full range of respiratory support immediately available is one of the things that distinguishes a specialty hospital.

Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen cages and supplemental oxygen for any patient whose oxygen saturation needs support — standard for many ICU patients.

High Flow Oxygen Therapy

Non-invasive respiratory support that delivers heated, humidified oxygen at much higher flow rates than standard oxygen — helping severely affected patients without ventilation.

Mechanical Ventilation

Advanced respiratory support when oxygen alone isn’t enough — for severe pneumonia, ARDS, certain neurologic patients, and select toxin exposures.

Therapeutic capabilities

Advanced therapies that change outcomes.

Some of the capabilities listed below have only recently become available in veterinary medicine. Several — like dialysis — are offered at very few veterinary clinics in the region.

Blood Bank & Transfusion

On-site whole blood, packed cells, and plasma — available 24/7 for trauma, IMHA, hemoabdomen, and any patient with critical blood loss.

Dialysis

The only clinic in Atlanta offering dialysis — for acute kidney injury, severe toxicity, and select autoimmune cases that need rapid clearance from the bloodstream.

Multimodal Pain Management

Local blocks, CRI infusions, and non-opioid options for real comfort. Comfortable patients eat sooner, move sooner, and heal faster.

Capabilities FAQ

What pet families and referring vets ask us most.

A service is a specialty area — emergency, surgery, oncology, internal medicine. A capability is a specific tool or technology that supports those services — a CT scanner, a 24/7 in-house lab, dialysis, mechanical ventilation. Capabilities are the “what’s in the building” that lets each service line do its work.

Yes. Primary care veterinarians can refer patients for any specific capability — a CT scan, an ultrasound-guided biopsy, an echocardiogram, an endoscopy, dialysis. We coordinate directly with your veterinarian, share records and imaging, and return the patient to their primary care team.

Most of our critical care and diagnostic capabilities — the in-house laboratory, CT, ultrasound, ICU, blood bank, oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and ER imaging — are available 24/7. Some advanced therapeutic capabilities like dialysis are scheduled but available urgently when a case requires it.

That’s the point of building a specialty hospital with everything under one roof. A trauma case might need CT imaging, then surgical repair with multi-parameter anesthesia monitoring, then ICU recovery with telemetry — all in the same building, on the same record, without transfer between facilities.

Yes. Dogwood is the only clinic in the Atlanta area with a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist on staff — supporting every advanced diagnostic and surgical procedure that requires anesthesia.
