Atlanta, GA’s veterinary imaging center — vet CT scans that see what x-rays miss.

X-rays show two dimensions. Ultrasound is operator-dependent.

A vet CT scan (computed tomography) provides cross-sectional veterinary imaging that captures the whole picture — bones, soft tissue, blood vessels, and organs — in seconds. We perform CT scans on-site, 24/7.

Vet CT Scan Advantages
  • 3D cross-sectional imaging
  • Detects fractures x-rays miss
  • Identifies soft tissue tumors
  • Surgical planning before procedures
  • Faster than MRI; sedation often enough
Why it matters

When 2D isn’t enough, vet CT scans change the diagnosis.

X-rays are an excellent first-line vet imaging tool, but they show overlapping structures in two dimensions. CT scans take hundreds of images and reconstruct them into 3D — revealing fractures, masses, lesions, and anatomical detail that simply isn’t visible on plain radiographs.

In trauma cases, a vet CT scan can identify spinal fractures, lung contusions, internal bleeding, and complex fractures all in a single study — often faster and more comprehensively than multiple x-ray views.

For oncology and surgical planning, CT scans show the exact size, location, and relationship of tumors to surrounding tissues — allowing surgeons to plan margins, anticipate complications, and counsel families on prognosis with much greater accuracy. As a complete veterinary imaging service, our radiology, surgery, and oncology teams review the same images together.

What we use it for

When a vet CT scan is essential.

  • Trauma evaluation — spinal injury, complex fractures, internal injury
  • Surgical planning for soft tissue and oncologic masses
  • Pulmonary metastasis screening for cancer staging
  • Nasal disease (tumors, fungal infection, foreign bodies)
  • Ear disease (chronic otitis, masses, polyps)
  • Neurological cases (stroke, mass, intervertebral disk disease)
  • Foreign body localization when x-rays are inconclusive
  • Vascular abnormalities (portosystemic shunts, vascular tumors)
The Dogwood standard

On-site veterinary imaging, any time.

  1. On-site, no transfer

Our CT scanner is in the same building as the ER, ICU, and surgical suites — making Dogwood a complete veterinary imaging center. Critical patients don’t need to be transported to a separate vet imaging center; we can scan and operate the same day.

  2. Specialist interpretation

CT scans are reviewed by veterinary radiology. Reports are timely and detailed, supporting same-day surgical or treatment decisions.

  3. Sedation, not always anesthesia

Modern vet CT scans are fast enough that many studies can be done under heavy sedation rather than full general anesthesia — reducing risk for critical or geriatric patients.

  4. Integrated with surgery and oncology

CT findings are shared in real time with our surgery and oncology teams — supporting fast, coordinated decisions about next steps.
